Sacraments
Baptism
Baptism of an infant is arranged through
the parish office after first-time parents have attended a
pre-baptismal seminar. For older children or adults who seek
baptism, the R. C. I. A. ( Rite of Christian Initiation for
Adults) is the normal process.
Please call the parish office at 528-0485 or contact us at
rcia@stfrancisokc.com
for more information.
Confirmation
The Sacrament of Confirmation is usually conferred
by the Archbishop during the Sophomore year of high school following a two (2) year period of education and spiritual formation.
High school students and adults who were baptized
as Catholics should call the parish office or contact us at
confirmation@stfrancisokc.com
for the necessary procedure. Adult Confirmation is arranged
through the R. C. I. A. program.
Holy Eucharist
The Celebration of the Eucharist (the Mass) is the public
worship of Almighty God by the Church. We join together for
Communion with the Lord Jesus Christ and each other. Our scheduled
Mass times can be found here.
Reconciliation
Reconcilation is the Sacrament of the forgiveness
of sins for baptized members of the Church. Jesus gave His
Apostles the authority to forgive sins (John 20:22-23) and
this authority has been handed down to those who hold the
apostolic office, the bishops and priests. All members of
the Church are encouraged to participate in this Sacrament
and receive the grace that it provides. Reconciliation is
celebrated on Saturdays 3:00-4:00 p.m. and by
appointment.
Anointing
of the Sick
Formerly known as the Sacrament of Extreme Unction,
this Sacrament of healing is for all those who are seriously
ill, not only those who are at the point of death. If you
or a family member become seriously ill, please call for one
of the priests to anoint the sick person. If you are hospitalized,
even if not for serious illness, please let the parish office
know by calling us at 528-0485 or at
anointing@stfrancisokc.com , so that one of the priests
or a member of the staff may visit and bring you Holy Communion.
Elderly parishioners may also receive this Sacrament whenever
there is a need.
Marriage
Matrimony is a Sacrament of the Church in which
the ordained minister serves as an official witness of the
Church, not as a minister of the Sacrament. Husbands and wives
are the ministers of this Sacrament to each other. If you
are planning marriage, there is some preparation that is necessary.
Call one of the priests for an appointment at least six (6)
months prior to your wedding date.
Holy
Orders
The three orders in this Sacrament are Bishop,
Priest, and Deacon. St. Francis of Assisi Parish has a history
of priestly vocations. Two plaques provided by the Knights
of Columbus are in the back of the Church enumerating men
in the Parish who were either or are parish members and who
have been ordained to the priesthood or diaconate.
In recent year, the Church has reinstituted the order of
deacon as a permanent position. The vast majority of permanent
deacons are married men. For more information, please contact
us at Holy_Orders@stfrancisokc.com
. Please continue to pray for vocations to the priesthood
and diaconate.
